Physical Education

Physical Education Intent

At Anlaby, we want our PE curriculum to be high quality and inspiring to all pupils. We aim for our children to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It will provide opportunities for our children to become physically confident, to develop their mental health and wellbeing and to embed key values such as fairness, respect and teamwork. Our curriculum will ensure that children develop the confidence to excel in a vast range of physical activities. They will become physically active for prolonged periods and will engage in competitive sports and activities, leading healthy, active lifestyles.

At Anlaby, we recognise that technological advances have been made, therefore there has been an increase in sedentary lifestyles and the associated health problems. This has become much more prevalent due to the pandemic and associated lockdowns. There is strong and consistent evidence that doing regular, moderate-intensity physical activity provides a range of physical, intellectual and emotional benefits for everyone. At our school we recognise the importance of being fit and agile and the effect it has on a child’s health and wellbeing, their ability to learn effectively and achieve in school. As a healthy school, we want to promote participation in sport and physical activity and believe we have an important role in partnership with the family and wider community in promoting this.

We are very proud that all our efforts in PE have resulted in us being awarded the Gold Mark for PE. Please click on the link below to see exactly what that means we have achieved.
