Design and Technology Intent Statement
At Anlaby Primary School, we believe that Design and Technology should be an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject that allows our children opportunities to be creative in order to problem solve. We aim to allow children to solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Our Design and Technology curriculum allows children to work with a range of materials and processes to design, create and evaluate different products. It should assist our children in developing a greater awareness and understanding of how everyday products are designed and made. We believe Design and Technology sessions require children to show resilience and determination; we aim for these skills to be transferred into other areas of the curriculum. In addition, we understand the importance of DT in developing skills such as collaboration, respect and self and peer- evaluation.
