We are linguists

At Anlaby, we recognise French as a key part of the National Curriculum and an important element of our wider curriculum. We aim to deliver a broad, well-structured French curriculum that enables children to build on their prior learning so that they know more and remember more over time. Our French curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and enthusiasm for language learning, while providing regular opportunities for children to practise speaking, listening, reading and writing in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Through high-quality teaching and modelling, children develop a rich and expanding bank of French vocabulary and language structures, enabling them to communicate ideas, ask and answer questions and build confidence in using another language. We aim to raise aspirations by linking French learning to real-life contexts and exploring aspects of French culture, helping children to develop a deeper understanding of the wider world.
