ELSA Emotional Literacy Support Assistants

Hi. I am Emma Gillyon and I am one of two county approved Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) here at Anlaby Primary School.  I have worked here for 8 years now, starting as a one to one Teaching Assistant, specialising in SEN and then gaining my ELSA qualification in 2014 along with numerous other skills and qualifications that I have gained along the way.  I have worked across the school from Foundation through to Year 6 and one of the only challenging things is trying to remember the names of all the children, but I think I am doing well and know almost all of the children in our school (Phew!!!).

The wellbeing of the students at Anlaby Primary School is priority to us and if the children need additional support beyond the classroom, then I take on that role as ELSA, offering support and guidance.  I have had the great pleasure of working with and supporting lots of wonderful children and parents over the years and seen them develop and grow.

I can help with many issues such as changes in behaviour, social and emotional issues, anger management, Autism, loss and bereavement and anxiety as well as just being their to listen to worries or concerns.
