ELSA Emotional Literacy Support Assistants

Hi, I am Miss Taylor-Wood and I work as the Behaviour Support Assistant and deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead) at Anlaby Primary School

During my teaching career, I developed an interest in promoting positive child mental health and I have been lucky enough to put this in to practice within my role here, training as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA).

There are 3 training trained ELSAs at Anlaby, who can offer support to children for a wide variety of issues, from anxiety and anger management to social skills and dealing with bereavement. The well-being of the students is priority to us and we work alongside teachers and parents to develop strategies that help the children cope with their challenges.

Being an ELSA is wonderful as I get to work with children from Foundation Stage to Year 6, whether that's with individuals, samll social groups or simply being here to listen when children drop in to lunch club for a chat! We want all our pupils to feel happy and secure in their time at Anlaby Primary School and we hope our extra help they can all flourish.
